Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Pattern Recognition has already a history of more than 40 years and many basic techniques have been proposed. Now it would be an opportune time to look into these techniques deeply to determine the directions to proceed in the next decades. In this paper, we reconsider some basic techniques as urban legends. Our intention is to make clear what is worth studying and what is not. We pick up some basic but important topics to discuss.
