Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Rapid development of telecommunication services gave rise to increasing power consumption of ICT. Effective countermeasure is required to mitigate growth of power consumption of ICT. KDDI has been active in efficient operation for power saving of cellular base stations. The combined operation of solar cell and back-up battery with commercial power supply contributes to not only cost efficient operation but also reduction of Green House Gases. During night time, the back-up battery system is fully charged by commercial power supplied by electric power company. During day time, the solar cell is used to the maximum extent possible in combination with supplement power supply from the back-up battery.
