Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a method for stereoscopic shape reconstruction that efficiently handles a smooth surface, such as a human face. We estimate the depth map corresponding to the first image. Since the depth map is a smooth surface, we express the map by a spline interpolation between a set of grid points, and estimate the depths for grid points in order to minimize the differences between the first input image and the second input image that is warped according to the depth map. We discuss several refinements, and verify the method on real-world imagesets.
