Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, Wikipedia is playing an important role as an online encyclopedia. However, most Wikipedia entries lack multimedia information such as audio, image, and video. So we focus especially on Wikipedia entries on news events and broadcast news videos, and propose a method that enhances Wikipedia entries with news videos. By means of this method, detailed explanation for each Wikipedia entry using corresponding news videos is realized. Association between Wikipedia entries and news videos are obtained by evaluating the similarity between closed- caption texts accompanied with a news video and a Wikipedia text. Through experiments, Wikipedia entries and news videos were accurately associated with a precision of 82.1% and a recall of 75.8%. In addition, a prototype browsing interface named "Videopedia" that supports browsing Wikipedia using news videos is introduced.
