Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The retinal ganglion cells respond with reliable and precise spike pattern to fluctuating inputs. It was suggested that the stochastic properties of ion channels are critical in determining the reliability of the spike timing in the ganglion cell. Here we analyzed the mechanisms of spike timing reliability by a mathematical model based on stochastic ion channel kinetics. In simulation, the reliability was highly correlated with noise intensity of the input current. In addition, potassium channels, Ky and A played important roles in the reliability.
