Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) will be adopted in the uplink of the future wireless communication system. Interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA), which is a special case of SC-FDMA, can obtain frequency diversity gain by allocating the frequency component of the transmitted signal to the wide spread frequency spectrum that are equi-distantly spaced. However, inter-chip interference (ICI) incurred by multipaths environment degrades the transmission performance of IFDMA. In the multi-user environment, where a number of users communicate at the same time, multi-user diversity can be obtained by allocating user's spectrum according to each user's channel gain. However, it has not been clarified that the impact of user allocation on the performance of IFDMA by taking into account of user fairness, the frequency diversity, and the multi-user diversity and ICI. We have previously evaluated the average bit error rate (BER) performance of IFDMA in the multi-user environment by taking into account of frequency diversity, multi-user diversity and ICI when Q and L are changed and then average BER performance of IFDMA is compared to that of OFDM. In this report, we focus on the multi-user diversity gain that is greatly affected by the user allocation method. The impact of user allocation on the channel capacity is evaluated by computer simulation.
