Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wireless access has been diversified; experienced transmission speed in wireless access dynamically changes depending on time and location. This trend will be enhanced by the concept of dynamic spectrum access, in which spectrum and power resources are adaptively used in addition to access interfaces. Furthermore, new mobility patterns like intermittent or periodical connectivity will need to be appropriately handled. The above backgrounds allow us to forecast that, in the future wireless access, radio resource is used more 'opportunistically'. The opportunistic communication architecture is designed to optimally handle dynamic resource assignment, intermittent connectivity, error, and delay and to maximize the utility by using the available resource efficiently. This concept includes the delay tolerant network (DTN). Considering the fact that the majority of the current network traffic is chunk data, which requires no bit rate and jitter guarantees, the opportunistic communication architecture can be the optimal form of the future mobile infrastructure network. We have two ways when we build such a new architecture: overlay technology and clean slate technology. In the former, the new technology is built over the current internet, while, the latter allows us to rebuild the internet architecture from the beginning. Both approaches are introduced in this talk.
