Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a hardware-software architecture for implementation ofa Remote Radio Equipment (RRE) on a combination ofmulticore processors plus Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The programmability of the platform enables operators to handle multiple radio air interfaces while at the same time support gigabit interconnects with base stations. The hardware in based on Intel Xeon multicore, supported by a standard Front Side Bus (FSB) interface to FPGA. The software is a collection of optimized signal computing functions for power amplifier linearization and sample-rate conversion. The performance of the system for LTE is presented and migration paths to LTE-A dvanced are discussed.
