Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In wireless multihop networks, existence of multiple flows in the same area can degrade total system throughput due to mutual interference, especially the mesh network comprises a single channel. Several approaches in MAC protocol have been studied to overcome this problem, including RTS/CTS control with optimal values of CTS-reply-threshold, dynamic transmission range control or dynamic channel bandwidth assignment. However, these have not been thoroughly evaluated in terms of improving system throughput. This paper presents comprehensive analysis of existing approaches for improving channel use efficiency, and then proposes an approach of controlling RTS/CTS transmission power depending on a ratio between DATA transmission range and distance from interference transmitter. Results of analysis reveal that RTS/CTS control with adaptive RTS/CTS transmission power controlling is totally most effective among schemes listed above in that it can improve channel reuse and improve throughput under various node density.
