Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have carried out mobile broadband wireless access (MBWA) system field trials in an urban area of Sendai city. In the trials, we adopted Fast Low-latency Access with Seamless Hand-off Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (FLASH-OFDM) as an air interface. FLASH-OFDM uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), which is one of attractive candidates for multiple access schemes in the next generation mobile communication systems. This paper discusses the measured downlink throughput performances when the maximum modulation level is up to 256 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). The measured results show that 64 QAM mainly contributes the median downlink throughput, and 256 QAM is attractive at a maximum throughput point of view. This paper also discusses the uplink throughput performances. The measured results show that 16 QAM mainly contributes the median uplink throughput. The measured results of the received signal levels obtained in the field trials suggest that 64 QAM can be used in 30% of the field trial area.
