Abstract(in English) | This paper presents an investigation on a user-specific reference signal (US-RS) for multi-layer transmission in the LTE-Advanced downlink. In the LTE-Advanced downlink, to satisfy high-level performance requirements, advanced multiantenna transmission techniques such as higher-order single-user (SU)-MIMO, multi-user(MU)-MIMO, and coordinated multi-point transmission/reception (CoMP) are necessary. At the 3GPP RAN WG1 meeting, the US-RS was defined to support up to eight transmission layers, and a hybrid code division multiplexing (CDM) and frequency division multiplexing (FDM) scheme was adopted as a US-RS multiplexing scheme. In this paper, we propose a two-dimensional orthogonal cover code (2D-OCC) that achieves two-dimensional orthogonality in both the time and frequency domains to improve the performance of CDM-based US-RSs. Simulation results show that the 2D-OCC is effective in improving the block error rate (BLER) performance especially in a high mobility environment. Furthermore, we compare the US-RS mapping pattern in terms ofa localized/distributed CDM scheme employing the proposed 2D-OCC based on the throughput performance for multi-layer transmission in the LTEA-dvanced downlink. |
