Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report proposes a novel compression scheme to reduce the amount of channel state information (CSI) to be fed back from a receiver to a transmitter. CSI is useful information to improve the performance of wireless communication systems especially for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems. The proposed compression scheme transforms a set of CSI by Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and then a limited amount of the transformed CSI information with large power in frequency domain is fed back from a receiver to a transmitter. The compressed CSI is used at the transmitter for MIMO transmissions. The efficiency of the proposed compression scheme is measured by the ergodic capacity through computer simulations. The evaluation results show that the degradation of the ergodic capacity of the system applying the proposed compression scheme is less than 1% compared with the system whose transmitter has perfect CSI even though the amount of CSI is decreased by 95%.
