Abstract(in English) We use the Pseudo-Return-to-Zero (PRZ) modulation scheme as an alternative to RZ or NRZ schemes. We verify the feasibility of PRZ by polarization multiplexing 55Gb/s PRZ(4)-QPSK and 55Gb/s PRZ(8)-QPSK signals, realizing a 110Gb/s DP-PRZ-QPSK signal. With an appropriate receiver, we verify the efficiency of the information carried by PRZ signals on the physical layer for polarization discrimination, precise intra-polarization skew monitoring over a 4UI wide range and large-PMD tolerance enhancement up to 2UI. We also propose a simple in-service monitoring scheme for CD based on the information of PRZ.
