Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In flexible liquid crystal (LC) displays, the electrooptic properties of the LC layer is changed and display image is disordered when the substrate gap is changed by substrate deformation and spacer damage. In this study we have proposed a formation method of robust line spacers on a plastic substrate based on roller nanoimprint technique using a nickel mold plate. We fabricated a vertical-alignment LC device using two different plastic substrates with the striped spacers and comb-like electrodes. We confirmed the light modulation of the flexible LC device.
