Excitation Characteristics of LnOF:Tb (Ln=Y,La,Gd) Green Phosphors for VUV Excitation

Abstract(in English) LnOF:Tb(Ln=Y,La,Gd) phosphors have been examined as Vacuum Ultra-Violet (VUV) excited green phosphors. It is confirmed that YOF:Tb reveals a phase transition from hexagonal to tetragonal with increasing firing temperature. The hexagonal YOF:Tb has a strong PL excitation band in a VUV region, while that of the tetragonal phase is very weak. By substituting Y to Gd, it has been found that the PL intensity for 147nm-excitation is improved. The PL peak intensity of (Y,Gd)OF:Tb is approximately 160% of that of Zn_2SiO_4:Mn.
