Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Antennas built in mobile terminals are required to archive small size and wide-band operation. Folded dipole/monopole antennas have been known as wide-band and higher input impedance characteristics compared to single wire antennas. We report a bent-folded-monopole antenna with dual-band operation at basic resonant frequency f_1 and second frequency f_2 where two times higher than the basic frequency f_1. The top of the bent-folded-monopole antenna is connected to the ground through a capacitor, and an inductor is also embedded at the antenna. The capacitor shifts the f_1, whereas the inductor adjusts only the f_2, thus both of the operating frequencies of the proposed antenna can be designed almost independently. Electromagnetic simulation and measurement results are provided to examine the antenna operation. We also report an example of the antenna designed for GSM/UMTS/CDMA systems.
