Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are the new class of networks in which the sensor nodes have limited resources, especially in terms of energy being highly restricted. This paper introduces a new kind of WSNs system employing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). In this system, we have tried to introduce a new idea of incorporating Beacon Signals. These Beacon signals are transmitted at the beginning of each transmission cycle by the UAV. Then, the sensor nodes lying under the flight path of the UAV are triggered to active state upon receiving the beacon signal and start to contend the channel for transmitting data directly to the UAV. This scheme can complement the main problems of WSNs, that is, it can communicate easily and reduce the required transmit energy significantly in addition to UAV being movable it would be based on almost nearly free-space path-loss. We evaluate the performance of ratio of packet transmission and the average latency of packet transmission by CSMA/CA as our multiple access schemes. Based on these results, we can find the suitable radius and the number of sensor nodes to be deployed to cover a wide area. In all, the proposed schemes show the applicability to utilize this system for future WSNs, specifically for the applications such as disaster relief system or accessing the inaccessible area.
