Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a subjective evaluation method for two conflicting criteria. Average scores of the signals under evaluation are placed from the left to the right in the order of the balance between the two criteria. The scores are classified into two groups based on the slope of scores, namely, upward slope and downward slope. Then, a statistical analysis based on the average scores and their confidence intervals for each group are performed. Evaluation of separation function of MPEG SAOC (spatial audio object coding) with the new method shows that confidence intervals of the preferred setting for one group and that for the other group are not overlapping. The new subjective evaluation method successfully identifies the presence of preference.
