ET2009-97 Introduction of Foreign Language Activities to Primary Level of Deaf Schools

Abstract(in English) 35 units of foreign language activities are supposed to be carried out at the fifth and sixth grades since 2011 per year in Japan. Questionnaire survey was done to get information about present situation of foreign language activities at primary level of 96 Japanese deaf schools. 65% demonstrated that they have started some programs related with these activities. More than half of the instructors are class-room teachers. More than 30% of these schools adopt English Note. Developments of devices such as electronic blackboards which can present visual information more effectively and easily are highly expected.
