Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In wireless relay networks based on IEEE 802.16j, each relay node has its own service area that provides wireless Internet access service to client terminals. In order to achieve effective region covering and efficient utilization of wireless network resources, it is important to determine the service area size by using the location information of other neighboring nodes. However, the amount of available information is heavily affected by the situation when constructing the networks and the function of the equipments. In this report, we introduce three methods to determine the service area size, each of which assumes a different level of knowledge regarding neighboring nodes. Through extensive simulation experiments, we confirm the trade-off relationships between the knowledge level and performance in these methods. Moreover, we show that the method based on voronoi area information can reduce the frame length by more than 40%, and that we can reduce the effects of biased node density by utilizing a few amount of information.
