Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The demand for local information provisioning has been increasing particularly in transportation systems and public areas. In this system, unlike traditional global information provisioning services in the internet, distributed wireless nodes aggregate the information sensed by them via the overlay network they automatically built and provide it to people. However, these wireless nodes are not always connected continuously and stably because of the unstable radio channel and the communication range limitation. Random network coding is expected to compensate for the instability and to improve the robustness of the system. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate how the buffer capacity limitation and the buffer control algorithm affect the performance of random network coding because storage capacity of wireless devices are strictly limited. We evaluate the performances of a couple of buffer control algorithms, FIFO(First In First Out), LRU(Least Recently Used), and MRU(Most Recently Used) in an intermittent connection scenario.
