| Abstract(in English) | In past several years, a significant decline in a technology innovation and a business competitiveness has been observed in Japanese ICT industries. It is obvious that corporate research and development (R&D) strategies significantly influenced the business competitiveness in ICT market. It is then needed to evaluate the strategies as one of the causes of which made the competitiveness relatively weaker than used to be. A corporate technological strength and a market competitiveness of Japanese ICT companies should be carefully examined from the view point of corporate R&D approaches. There are many factors which determine the performance of R&D approaches. A simple quantitative analysis, however, might be misleading to precisely understand the phenomenon observed in Japanese ICT industries. In this paper, thus, a new model of a general R&D approach is proposed in order to analyze the ICT industries of Japan as well as the ones in Korea and Taiwan, which have recently become leads in some of the ICT markets. As a consequence, a similarity in R&D approaches between Korean and Taiwanese companies is evaluated and it is found that this approach is not strongly employed by Japanese companies. |
