Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The map-based interface (MBI) provides an intelligible means by which users can obtain various information and the methods for movement in a virtual space. In this paper, we propose and implement the following three kinds of avatar control systems for MBI, (1) "an independent drag method" to control avatar's position and direction independently by mouse dragging, (2) "an interlocking drag method" to control avatar's position by mouse dragging and the direction is automatically determined, (3) "a click method" that changes both position and direction by mouse clicking only. In addition, we also propose an experimental evaluation method that enables strict evaluation when comparing their performance.
