Abstract(in English) The experiments of the broadband Internet satellite WINDS are being conducted successfully. Considering that the time has come to look for the next project and that the environment of space development has been changed in Japan according to enforcement of the Space Basic Law, the advanced ultra high speed satellite, Gigabit-2, is proposed as a candidate of the Japan's next project. The motivation of the proposal, the outline of the Gigabit-2 satellite, application of the proposed satellite technology, technologies to be developed and the method of research on the national security are described.
