Abstract(in English) | Ultrasonic complex vibration sources and welding equipments with elliptical to circular vibration locus were developed and welding characteristics and welded structures of various same and different metal specimens are studied. Ultrasonic complex vibration welding can be used for joining same and different metal and has superior quality compared with conventional welding with linear vibration locus. Conditions and structures of (1) aluminum and copper, (2) aluminum and nickel, (3) alumina coated aluminum alloy plate specimens welded using complex vibration welding equipments were observed using SEM and transmission electron microscope (TEM). It was shown that the specimens were joined directly without any oxides, inter-metallic compound, mutual diffusion and any different structures. These metal specimens are welded by atomic attraction between these specimens. The coated alumina layer was broken roughly in initial welding process and furthermore, broken into small alumina particles by ultrasonic complex vibration and finally dispersed throughout in welding specimens. These specimens were welded with almost material strength. |
