An Efficient Key Establishment Scheme through Intermediaries for Sensor Networks

Abstract(in English) Establishing shared keys is a fundamental issue to provide secure communications among nodes in sensor networks. We propose an efficient key establishment scheme which combined Blom's key pre-distribution scheme and Peer Intermediaries for Key Establishment. In our approach, each node is assigned with a small number of shared direct pairwise keys of Blom's key pre-distribution scheme to selected nodes. Even if two nodes do not share a common key, the nodes can establish indirect pairwise keys through intermediaries. We show that our proposed scheme has advantage compared with existing schemes in terms of computational cost, memory cost and resilience against node compromise.
