Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The scale of IP network is expanding. However, basic network operation tools, such as Ping, Traceroute, and SNMP, do not have enough performance to apply large scale IP networks. In this paper, we propose a method to improve conventional SNMP manager. SNMP manager is commonly used as one of the tool to collect network equipment information. However, as the scale of networks becomes larger, total time to collect all equipment information becomes longer because its packet sending rate and data. processing speed are low. Moreover, conventional equipment management system using SNMP requires a lot of effort to apply initial settings which suits for each network equipments. In order to solve the first problem, it is necessary to invent the methods to send many packets in short terms and cut out of unnecessary disk access. And in order to solve the second problem, we propose automation method with SQL like template files to decrease effort to apply initial OIDs settings. The improved SNMP manager can collect 3 million OIDs within 5 minutes, and the amount of configuration files can be reduced.
