Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In use of TV white space based on the US FCC regulation, availability of the operating channel in wireless network should be checked periodically by intermittent spectrum sensing. A promising approach to monitor the operating channel is placing "quiet period" in which all network nodes cease transmission. However, it seems difficult to place such quiet periods in wireless LAN that has a contention-based protocol. In this paper, we propose a method for introducing the "quite period" in the IEEE802.11 wireless LAN. In the proposed method, the quiet period is placed in the polling control frame that is an option in the IEEE802.11 wireless LAN standard. Impact of introducing quiet period to the throughput and response time performance is evaluated through computer simulation.
