Whitespace Sensing Database for Cognitive Radio Systems

Abstract(in English) Regulatory information and sensing related information are used to determine free spectrum for secondary use. Having a database which organizes these two different types of information and provides information about available spectrum to cognitive radio in a timely manner would improve the spectrum utilization efficiency. This paper shows the design of a logical entity called "whitespace sensing database". that includes the details about its architecture, interface and functionality. Information from difference sources is stored in the database based on regulatory requirements and characteristics of the data. The database can provide information about radio environment including the following information: results of distributed sensing about primary and secondary users, long-term spectrum usage statistic, and regulatory information. Information exchange with the proposed database can be deployed with low latency and less traffic to the global network.
