Overview of Standards Development on Cognitive Wireless Systems Operating over TV White Space

Abstract(in English) This paper reviews standardization activities of cognitive wireless communication systems based on unlicensed use of vacant frequency spectrum assigned to terrestrial TV broadcast, so called "TV white space." First, overview of regulatory trends in US and Europe is described. Next, standard development activities of wireless network over TV white space are introduced in IEEE802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC), especially in 802.22, 802.11, and 802.19. Standardization activities in other standard development organizations are briefly given in this paper.
