Abstract(in English) | Recently, dynamic spectrum access (DSA) system, which performs wireless communication over radio resources temporally-unused by other wireless systems (white space) in the same frequency band, attracts much attention. The occurrence of white space depends highly on the behavior of the coexisting systems. Therefore, not only the definition of white space but also the performance of the receiver in the coexisting systems, such as the ability to suppress interference or the channel selectivity of a low-pass filter, has a great impact on the performance of the DSA system. However, how they should be set in the performance evaluation of the DSA system is not discussed enough in former studies. Considering DSA operation in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, this paper tries to makes this point clear by evaluating the performance of the IEEE 802.11g ERP-OFDM, which is assumed to be a major coexisting system, with different physical configurations at the receiver's side. Specifically, the average area throughput of the IEEE 802.11g ERP-OFDM and white space existing ratio are evaluated through PHY/MAC cross-layer simulations assuming multiple-BSS/multiple-channel operation and the AWGN channel. |
