Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A speech signal captured by a distant microphone inevitably contains reverberant components due to reflection from, for example, walls, floors and ceilings. These reverberant components are known to degrade the percieved quality of the observed signal and cause severe performance degradation in various applications such as automatic speech recognition. Dereverberation is therefore an important speech enhancement process for hands-free terminals. Especially, a dereverberation that can work with no explicit a priori knowledge about the recording environment, namely blind dereverberation, has been extensively investigated by a considerable number of researchers. In this report, we would like to provide an overview of recent advances in blind speech dereverberation.
