Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes and evaluates traffic shaping function incorporated to Fiber Delay Line(FDL) buffers. In Multiple wavelength packet switching networks, trunk transmission capacity of every network section must be unified to avoid costly format conversion hardware. Traffic shaping at low traffic section can reduce loss rate at bottleneck section since packet arrivals become rather constant. Though FDL buffer gives only a fixed amount of delay, and can provide only limited buffering capacity, FDL buffers with longer common difference of arithmetic series length can enhance network throughput. Moreover, we also evaluated the effectiveness of proposal in various networks, such as multiplexed shaper and natural shaping.
