Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) One of the most important function in optical packet switching networks is contention resolution function in optical domain. Due to the fact that optical RAM technology is still immature, other contention resolution mechanism has been required instead. Fiber delay lines (FDLs) is one of promissing mechanisms to provide the function in time domain. A FDL buffer consists of multiple fibers of different lengths and each of them provieds different constant delay to incoming optical signal. In additon, each FDL can hold an optical packet at once. Theses properties cause high packet drop rate when short length packets dominate in all incoming packets. In our previous work, we proposed the packet multiplexing mechanism based on BGP flow aggregation and we confirmed that it can reduce the number of optical packets. In this paper, we evaluate the preformance on packet drop rate in a network via simulation. The Results showed that the mechanism drastically reduced packet drop rate.
