Plasomon resonance absorption in a thin-film metal grating

Abstract(in English) We investigate plasmon-resonance absorptions in a thin-film metal gration which is a periodically corrugated thin metal film. We fabricate a thin-film metal grating consisting of a sinousoidal thin aluminum or gold film coated on glass substrate. We measure the diffraction efficiency of the 0-th order diffracted wave when a laser beam is incident on a thin-film metal grating and observe plasmon-resonance absorptions as a dip in the diffraction efficiency curve as functions of the angle of incidence. We further numerically analyze plane wave diffraction from a thin-film metal grating by using Yasuura's method and then confirm plasmon-resonance absorptions in a thin-film metal grating.
