Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have recently developed a technique of label-free imaging of biological samples using stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). This technique utilizes two-color laser pulses and high-frequency lock-in detection to visualize molecular vibrations at a specific frequency. Compared to previous Raman microscopy, SRS microscopy is advantageous in that images can be obtained with high sensitivity and high contrast, and can be analyzed quantitatively. In this paper, we present the principle and imaging results of SRS microscopy, and discuss the advantages of SRS.
