Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We fabricated photonic crystal directional coupler switches controlled by micro-heater. One of the two eigenmodes of the directional coupler has constant-frequency region by structural modification. The optical switch with the length 5μm was acccomplished by the special dispersions. The switching speed of the device for 1360nm wavelength region is ~4μs with the power of 12.1mW, and the speed of the device for 1550nm is 5~7μs with the power of 5.3mW.
