Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Inverse halftoning is to reproduce a countinuous-tone image from a halftone image, i.e., binary image. The look-up table-based method proposed by Mese et al. is known as an excellent means in inverse halftoning. In their algorithm, continuous values of an output image are determined based on local binary pattern of a hafltone image. The shape of local region is called as template in the method and only one type of template was used in their method . In this report, we improve the Mese at al. method using multiple templates. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by some experiments.
