Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In our daily life, we often see natural pictures on books, magazines and websites, and can indicate the direction of gravitational vertical of those. In this indication, we would use some elements, which are regarded as being processed in earlier visual process, such as color, luminance and edges and other elements based on recognition and memory, regarded as being processed in later visual process. In this research, we investigated the effect of luminance distribution, one of the elements process in the earlier level, on the perception of the direction of gravitational vertical. Results showed that subjects perceived gravitational vertical depending on the luminance distribution when presentation time was short.
