Abstract(in English) LTE(Long Term Evolution), which is specified in 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project)Release 8 and employs downlink MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output)transmission, draws an attention as a promising next generation cellular mobile radio system due to its high spectral efficiency compared to current HSPA(High Speed Packet Access)system. Softbank Mobile Coorperation performed a field trial on 3GPP Release 8 compatible LTE system in Kitakyushu-City, Fukuoka, as a specified ubiquitous distinct project promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan. This paper describes the overview of field trial system and reports the field experiment results on downlink 2x2 MIMO wireless transmission. Finally, it compares the field experiment results with laboratory experiment results using the channel model based on ITU-R Recommendation P.1806.
