Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We aim to fabricate single electron devices which work at room temperature. In double barrier tunneling junctions, tunneling resistance is exponentially proportional to distance, the device structure has to be controlled at subnanometer scale. We have observed clear Coulomb blockades in I-V characteristics by scanning tunneling spectroscopy. Here, Π-conjugated ligand protected Au nanoparticles are used as a center electrode of double barrier tunneling junctions. Tunneling resistance between Au nanoparticles and Au(111) substrate is estimated as 2.8 GΩ from set point current dependence.
