Abstract(in English) On 2006, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has started Small Demonstration Satellite (SDS) program in order to improve the reliability of practical satellites by demonstrating new technologies timely with low cost. This program is called "Small Demonstration Satellite (SDS) Program". As first satellite of SDS program, SDS-1 was successfully launched as one of the seven piggyback satellites of GOSAT on January 23^ 2009 with H-2A Flight 15 and operated perfectly in normal operational phase and is in post mission phase. This paper describes outline of development and on- orbit operation of SDS-1, and future prospect.
