Present and Future of Small Satellites : Observation and communication missions

Abstract(in English) In order to increase cost-to-benefit, operation, frequency of observation and communication and others, small satellite with higher performance and constellation of small satellites are developed and operated in the world. In Japan, some small satellites are developed and operated by JAXA, universities and other organizations. In May, 2010, small satellites with AKATSUKI (PLANET-C) were launched. In this paper, present and future of small satellites not only in the world but also in Japan are described.
