Abstract(in English) | This paper evaluates the interference level on satellite uplink in Satellite/Terrestrial Integrated Mobile Communication System (STICS) by using a new interference model considering traffic and propagation environment in terrestrial network. The interference model calculates total transmit power of terrestrial cellular phones in each grid in Japanese island. Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power (EIRP) per unit area (defined as ground surface EIRP) is expressed by using parameters such as population density, traffic generation rate, EIRP per terminal, interference power ratio and population ratio for each propagation environment (LOS/NLOS etc.). The validity of the interference model is evaluated by comparing ground surface EIRP calculated by the model and the one estimated from the airplane measurement data. By using realistic numbers for input parameters of the model, the model and the measurement showed the same trend. Trial calculation of the interference level from terrestrial cellular phones to the STICS satellite indicated that the minimum receiving Carrier to Interference Ratio (CIR) at Edge of Coverage (EOC) of satellite beam is 15.1 dB. |
