Proposal of root cause analysis by using integrated resource information

Abstract(in English) Due to the emergence of advanced and diversified telecom services, the network capabilities have become more complex. As a result, increasing operational complexity and operational expenditure (OPEX) become major concerns of operators of such networks. Thus, a new methodology of operation and management for next generation network would be required to solve the above mentioned problems. To address this issue, this paper proposes a new resource information model that is capable end-to-end resource management from the network resource information to the application resource information in an integral fashion. In addition, we propose a next generation fault management technique, which enables easy identification of not only the root cause of a failure, but also the extent of the impact of failure due to both the network failures and the performance degradation failures, by sharing resource information among the management systems. Finally, our proposed fault management mechanism was successfully demonstrated in a testbed environment, and thus the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism was verified.
