Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) ITU-T G.8032 "Ethernet Ring Protection switching" improves reliability of wide-area Ethernet networks. It is defined a multi-ring model, which consists of conjoined Ethernet rings by several interconnected nodes and can keep user connections even when a node failures. However, the number of users on a multi-ring network with IEEE802.1ad restricts only 4094 users on the entire network. On the other hand, IEEE802.1ah "Provider Backbone Bridges", which supports larger number of service instances than 16 million and achieves higher scalability for Ethernet networks, is standardized. In this report, we propose and evaluate methods of applying the IEEE802.1ah technology to multi-ring Ethernet networks. Also, the result shows that the method of applying IEEE802.1ah for the entire multi-ring network is efficient when a network is newly constructed, and the method of applying IEEE802.1ah just for the common link of the multi-ring network is efficient when the constructed network is made the transition.
