Abstract(in English) | As the transmission capacity per optical fiber has been increased, a load of the routers and/or the power consumption has been a serious problem. In order to overcome above problems, Wavelength Selectable Switch (WSS) which can switch any number of any wavelength signal from any input to any output port, has been indispensable. On the other hand, it is desirable for WSS to have new functions such as programmable bandwidth allocation instead of the conventional fixed 100GHz spaced wavelength grids due to the recent progress in transmission format such as the OFDM. Here, a novel WSS with AWGs (Arrayed Waveguide Gratings) and LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicone), which has a function of the programmable bandwidth allocation, is described. |
