Physical Impairments Aware Algorithm for Service Differentiation in Transparent Optical Networks

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a lightpath establishment algorithm for considering the physical impairments and providing the service differentiation in transparent optical networks. Our proposed method consists of four mechanisms; signaling mechanism, measurement mechanism of physical impairments,cervice differentiation mechanism, and retransmission mechanism. In our proposed method, according to the signaling mechanism, the information about physical impairments is collected at each node and transmitted toward destination node. The quality of optical signal can be guaranteed with the collected information according to the measurement mechanism of physical impairments. Moreover, the service differentiation can be provided according to the service differentiation mechanism and retransmission mechanism is used to improve the performance of lightpath estabishment. We evaluate the performance of our method by simulation in a 14-node NSFNET, and we compare its performance with the performance of the conventional method. Numerical examples show that our proposed method can decrease the lightpath blocking probability by considering the physical impairments while providing the service differentiation.
