Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We have been devoting ourselves to research and development on a remote communication support system in order to support activities of hearing impaired. The system provides real-time sign language interpretation and captioning from a remote studio. We are currently working on remote communication support system applying real 3-D video to provide a high realistic remote sign language interpretation. Then we proposed a system to take 3-D video and a technique to transmit 3-D video for remote sign language interpretation. This paper is described a result of comparative experiments between 2-D video (standard video) and 3-D video by using our system. We Performed experiments that test subjects imitate words of sign language and read words of finger alphabet which is displayed by 2-D or 3-D video. The validity of real 3-D video through the correct answer rates of them and the subjective impressions was confirmed. |
