Measurement of Relationship between Frame Arrival Rate and Sending Rate of DCCP CCID3 Flows in WLANs

Abstract(in English) When a node transmitting real time video traffic using DCCP CCID3 hands over between two wireless LANs APs that those congestion situations are different, it is difficult to change the transmission rate according to the change of communication environment because of the control of sending rate depends on feedback information. To solve this problem, we have proposed a predictive rate control for real time video streaming with network triggered hand over and have been discussing the suitable rate estimation scheme for this purpose. Tamura confirmed that the sending rate of DCCP CCID3 flows can be estimated by jitter of probe packets. However, the result of experimentations in a real environment revealed the difficulty of such estimation. In this paper, we discuss the parameters of probe packets and practical rate estimation method according to the result of experiments in a real environment. We confirmed that we can estimate the sending rate with 500ms error when the jitter is over 3ms by using probe packets which have 12 bytes UDP payload sent every 100ms.
